Benicia Capitol, Revisited

Benicia served as California's capital city for the short period of 1853 to 1854. It followed in the footsteps of San Jose and Vallejo, which also each served year-long stints as state capitals.

Just take a tour from these fellows (Bill and Charlie...I think)--I assure you that you will be entertained!

The building is extensively restored and in beautiful condition. It is listed as a California State Historic Landmark and has also been added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Many of the desks are original, and the room is decorated with such details as authentic newspapers from the times and top hats.

An upside down hat means an abstention from the vote!
