Happy November!

If you haven't noticed, it's November 1st! We're moving deeper into fall, although in Orange County you really wouldn't know it (87 degrees on Monday?). However, that doesn't stop me from getting excited about pumpkin pie and sweet potato with marshmallows. Here is an example of a beautiful 11th month of the year.

But, before we get ahead of ourselves, I would like to share the lovely Halloween that Derek and I had last night. We decided to head down to Balboa Island, get caramel apple ciders, and stroll around to look at the decor and cute kid and family costumes. I had no idea how festive this neighborhood is for holidays (looking forward to a future Christmas post here, as well!). And there of course happened to be a beautiful sunset commencing as we arrived.

First stop: Starbucks, where we ordered our delectable caramel apple ciders. Yum!

(This shot doesn't really do it justice, but I think Derek secretly dressed as Hunter Pence for Halloween...Go Giants!)

Favorite quote of the night from a resident passing out candy: "Oh here's one for your doggy. Don't worry, it's organic." I'm pretty sure the kid got M&Ms...

Dancing tater-tots all around:

This newfangled smoke machine was blowing white bubbles--that burst into smoke when popped! Here is a close up:

Some houses were flat out spooky (I had dejavu of the kind of things that made me run for the hills when trick or treating):

While others just really went all out:

And the day wouldn't be complete without some wildlife sightings:
(That's a seal in the boat!)

It was a beautiful night, and a fun and spirited Halloween!
